The process
How MazelTov works
Six stages, each with a clear boundary around who can see what. No stage happens without your agreement.
1. Your profile, in layers
You complete one structured profile. The lightest layer holds only an age band, community and general region. Deeper layers hold hashkafa, family background, expectations, references, contact details and documents. Each layer has a different audience, and you can see which is which while you fill it in.
2. Verification
Our team reviews the profile for completeness and consistency before it becomes active. Where a rav, school or reference is listed, we may confirm it. Verification protects everyone on the platform, and nothing you upload for verification is ever shown to other members.
3. Choosing a matchmaker
You can request a specific approved matchmaker or ask our team to recommend one. An assignment only becomes active when you approve it. From that moment, and only then, the assigned matchmaker can see your assignment layer.
4. Suggestions and proposals
A matchmaker who sees a possible fit prepares a proposal that explains the reasoning. Both families receive it privately and respond in their own time — accept, decline, or ask for more information. No contact details move between sides until both have accepted.
5. Meeting and follow-up
Once both sides accept, a shared conversation opens with the matchmaker present. Meetings can be scheduled and feedback recorded so the matchmaker can guide the next step thoughtfully.
6. Closing the loop
Whether the answer is mazel tov or a respectful no, the outcome is recorded so nobody has to repeat themselves. Declining is always allowed without giving a reason.
